The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), in partnership with Synapze Sdn Bhd, officially launched the Malaysia Digital Xceleration (MDX) Summit 2025, themed “Catalysing Malaysia’s Trillion-Dollar Digital Future.” Officiated by Minister of Digital YB Gobind Singh Deo, the summit takes place from 17–19 September at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

Since its debut, MDX has rapidly grown into a premier platform for emerging technologies, digital adoption, and innovation. Moreover, it directly supports Malaysia’s goal of ensuring the digital economy contributes 30% of GDP by 2030.

Global Thought Leaders and Regional Collaboration

This year, MDX welcomes leading voices such as Dr. Keyu Jin of the London School of Economics, technology investor Nicklas Bergman, and several Malaysian innovators. Together, they will explore how ASEAN’s digital economy – forecasted to reach USD 1 trillion by 2030 – can benefit from Malaysia’s role as a regional hub.

Furthermore, more than 5,000 participants are expected, including entrepreneurs, investors, corporate leaders, and trade associations. Through conferences, exhibitions, roundtables, and networking sessions, attendees will have ample opportunities to form partnerships and strengthen cross-border investment.

Next-Gen Focus Areas Driving Growth

The MDX Summit 2025 highlights five central themes:

  • Next-Gen Data – Building seamless data ecosystems for business growth.
  • Next-Gen Computing – Expanding AI, quantum computing, and cryptography.
  • Next-Gen Trust – Promoting ethical, transparent, and secure data use.
  • Next-Gen Creativity – Blending human creativity with avatars and virtual cities.
  • Next-Gen Talent – Preparing Malaysia’s workforce with future-ready skills.

Together, these themes provide a clear roadmap for businesses and governments navigating the digital era.

SmartGOV Malaysia 2025: Government Transformation in Action

Running alongside MDX is SmartGOV Malaysia 2025, co-hosted with the National Digital Department (JDN). This showcase presents government digital initiatives such as AI-powered services, digital permits, and smart city planning.

As a result, SmartGOV demonstrates how technology can reduce bureaucracy, increase efficiency, and deliver faster, citizen-focused services. Collectively, MDX and SmartGOV highlight the strength of Malaysia’s nationwide 5G infrastructure and Malaysia Digital (MD) ecosystem.
