Study reveals 21,609 jobs supported nationwide, over 500 MSMEs integrated into supply chain, and strong commitments to sustainability and inclusion

As L’Oréal Malaysia celebrates its 30th anniversary, the company has unveiled a comprehensive Socio-Economic Impact Report, underscoring its contribution to the nation’s economy, workforce, and communities.

According to the global Asterès study, L’Oréal’s operations in Malaysia support 21,609 jobs across the country, with each direct role at L’Oréal generating 36.6 additional jobs within the wider economy. Beyond employment, more than 500 Malaysian micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) are integrated into its supply chain, reflecting the company’s longstanding commitment to supporting local businesses.

Tomas Hruska, Managing Director of L’Oréal Malaysia, noted: “As we celebrate three decades in Malaysia, this report demonstrates how beauty contributes to both the economy and society. We are proud to create opportunities through job creation, skills development, and social progress, while continuing to grow alongside Malaysia.”

Driving Growth and Building Talent

Since its founding in 1995, L’Oréal Malaysia has become the nation’s leading beauty company, reaching 6.7 million consumers through its portfolio of 30 brands across 47,508 retail outlets, 1,300 salons, 2,399 pharmacies, and eight e-commerce platforms. The company’s strategic distribution centre in Shah Alam, along with its two global centres of excellence—BEST and NEO SAPMENA—further reinforce Malaysia’s role in L’Oréal’s international network.

Beyond business expansion, L’Oréal Malaysia also empowers communities. In 2023 alone, more than 1,600 beneficiaries were supported through initiatives such as the Beauty for a Better Life vocational programme, the L’Oréal UNESCO For Women in Science fellowship, and inclusive training for salon professionals.

Championing Diversity, Inclusion, and Sustainability

Diversity and inclusion remain central to L’Oréal’s culture. Women make up 72% of the workforce, 62% of senior leadership, and 50% of the Country Management Committee. Its multicultural team spans 19 nationalities and four generations, contributing over 4,200 years of collective experience in the beauty industry.

L’Oréal Malaysia is also driving sustainability through partnerships such as the Malaysian Recycling Alliance (MAREA) and inclusive sourcing initiatives. By integrating MSMEs and suppliers who employ vulnerable communities, the company fosters resilience, innovation, and long-term sustainability within Malaysia’s beauty sector.

With a legacy built on beauty, empowerment, and sustainability, L’Oréal Malaysia reaffirms its commitment to contributing to the nation’s economic progress, social inclusion, and environmental goals—ensuring that the next 30 years are as impactful as the last.
