Kintone, a subsidiary of Japanese software provider Cybozu Inc., has launched Kintone AI Lab, a free beta service designed to make artificial intelligence accessible to every business. With just a few lines of text, users can now create AI-powered applications and streamline workflows without coding or hiring developers.
Breaking Barriers for SMEs
Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) form the backbone of Malaysia’s economy. However, many still struggle with costly custom software, the complexity of digitalisation, and a shortage of skilled IT talent. Kintone AI Lab directly tackles these issues by allowing employees to build apps and manage processes using simple chat commands.

“SMEs are the heartbeat of Malaysia’s business landscape, but custom software has often been too expensive or too complicated,” said Tsubasa Nakazawa, Managing Director of Kintone Southeast Asia. “Kintone AI Lab was created to break down these barriers and put innovation into the hands of the people who know their business best.”
How It Works
Kintone AI Lab simplifies digital adoption in two ways.

AI App Creator: Users can describe their needs in plain language, such as “I need an app to track customer inquiries,” and the AI will suggest the right structure and fields.

AI Process Creator: Through a conversational setup, users can design workflows and approval processes, replacing manual paperwork with efficient digital systems.
This step-by-step approach helps SMEs start small, gain quick wins, and gradually scale their digital transformation.
Security and Trust at the Core
Furthermore, Kintone AI Lab places strong emphasis on security. It includes enterprise-grade governance features such as strict permission controls. Most importantly, user data is never used to train external AI models, ensuring privacy and trust at all times.
Nakazawa added that the initiative aligns with Malaysia’s 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), which emphasises digitalisation and AI adoption.
“By empowering every employee, not just the developers, we are helping businesses of all sizes innovate from the ground up, making Malaysia’s digital future more inclusive and dynamic.”
-Mr. Nakazawa
Availability
Kintone AI Lab is available as a free beta service worldwide, including Malaysia, from August 19, 2025. Users can activate the service directly within their Kintone settings, with more AI features expected to roll out in the coming months.
