PUCHONG, 5 May 2025 – The Selangor Information Technology & Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec) is primed and proud to lead a delegation of five innovative startups from Selangor to participate in World Expo 2025 Osaka and SusHi Tech Tokyo 2025. Held from 4 to 12 May 2025 in Japan, this strategic international mission, supported by the Selangor State Government, aims to strengthen the global presence of local startups by facilitating international exposure, investor engagement, and cross-border partnerships.

This initiative is part of Sidec’s ongoing commitment to fostering digital entrepreneurship and elevating Selangor’s position as a regional innovation hub. The selected startups represent a diverse mix of high-growth sectors including artificial intelligence, agritech, sustainability, and digital solutions, These startups are:

World Expo 2025 Osaka: Selangor Week

From 4 to 7 May, the Selangor delegation is participating in Selangor Week at World Expo 2025 Osaka, held at Yumeshima Island, under the expo’s central theme, “Designing Future Society for Our Lives.” Sidec leads the Digitalisation sub-theme as part of “Building A Resilient Future”, highlighting how Selangor is driving progress through innovation and digital adoption.

In collaboration with agencies such as Smart Selangor Delivery Unit (SSDU), Cyberview, and Monsta, Sidec has curated a dynamic line-up of programmes, including:

  • Panel discussions with tech leaders and policymakers
  • Live startup pitching sessions to global investors
  • Fireside chats with successful founders and ecosystem builders
  • Speed networking to foster international business connections

SusHi Tech Tokyo 2025: Innovation Without Borders

Meanwhile from 8 to 11 May, the delegation will continue their journey at SusHi Tech Tokyo 2025, held at Tokyo Big Sight. Organised by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, this global innovation conference is expected to welcome over 50,000 visitors and showcase more than 500 startups worldwide.

Selangor’s presence will be featured at the Malaysia Pavilion, coordinated by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC). Key highlights include:

  • Startup product showcases and exhibitions
  • Participation in the SusHi Tech Challenge pitch competition
  • Engagement in conference tracks on AI, food tech, quantum computing, and sustainable innovation

These activities provide Malaysian startups with an excellent opportunity to tap into Japan’s innovation ecosystem, gain market insights, and forge valuable international partnerships.


Driving Growth Through Global Exposure

Since 2018, Sidec has accelerated over 320 startups through key programmes like the Selangor Accelerator Programme (SAP) and the Selangor E-Commerce Xccelerator (ECX). To date, 65 alumni startups have raised a combined total of over RM203 million in funding. Notable success stories include Nexmind AI, Seed Dream, Borong, Pomen, and QMed Asia, which have successfully scaled both regionally and globally.

This international mission further aims to strengthen Malaysia–Japan cooperation in digital economy development, innovation exchange, and startup ecosystem building. The Selangor delegation will participate in business matching sessions, policy discussions, and networking events with Japanese corporates, government agencies, and venture capitalists.
