From weekday office commutes to weekend glamping trips, Volvo Car Malaysia is positioning its latest electric SUV as a vehicle designed to bridge urban mobility and outdoor exploration.
The company has unveiled the new Volvo EX30 Cross Country, Volvo’s first fully electric Cross Country model, designed for tailpipe emission-free journeys while offering additional capability for rougher road conditions.
Priced from RM218,888, the locally assembled EX30 Cross Country is now available for viewing at authorised Volvo dealers nationwide. Early adopters can also access a limited-time launch package for the first 100 reservations.

Chris Wailes, Managing Director of Volvo Cars Malaysia and Thailand, said Malaysia’s combination of urban environments and natural landscapes makes it an ideal setting for the EX30 Cross Country.
“The adage that ‘life is full of adventures’ is so apt when we describe living in Malaysia because it is a country where you can find some of the oldest rainforests in the region just a few hours away from the tallest building in the world.”
He said the EX30 Cross Country was designed to offer the freedom to explore while providing confidence across different environments.
A Cross Country Legacy Goes Electric
Volvo’s Cross Country heritage dates back to 1997, when the first Cross Country model was introduced to handle the demanding Scandinavian climate.
Since then, Volvo said its Cross Country vehicles have been tested and refined across a variety of road conditions, including wet surfaces, rough terrain, highways and muddy tracks.

The EX30 Cross Country builds on the award-winning EX30 while adding features intended to make it more capable beyond urban roads.
As Volvo’s first fully electric Cross Country model, it combines zero tailpipe emissions with a more rugged design and enhanced chassis characteristics for drivers looking to venture beyond the city.
Built for City Streets and Rougher Terrain
As a compact SUV, the EX30 Cross Country is designed for urban environments such as the Klang Valley. Its 360-degree environmental awareness system uses radars positioned at each corner alongside multiple sensors to assist drivers when navigating expressways and tighter roads.
The electric SUV offers a driving range of up to 437km, while its 69kWh NMC battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in around 27 minutes using a 175kW DC rapid charger.
For more demanding journeys, the EX30 Cross Country is equipped with a twin-motor all-wheel-drive system producing 428hp and 543Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 3.7 seconds.
Fine-tuned steering software is also designed to optimise steering torque build-up, active return and damping, providing greater control through tight corners and a stronger connection to the road.
The model has 19mm more ground clearance than the standard EX30. Combined with its advanced chassis design and 19-inch five-spoke wheels, this is intended to improve comfort and stability when travelling over more challenging surfaces.
Electric Mobility with Safety and Sustainability in Mind
The EX30 Cross Country builds on the EX30’s positioning as Volvo’s most sustainable car to date.
As a fully electric vehicle, it produces zero tailpipe emissions, while its interior incorporates materials such as upcycled denim textiles and bio-attributed Nordico upholstery.

Safety remains central to the model, with Volvo’s latest Safe Space Technology and advanced driver assistance systems designed to protect occupants and those around the vehicle.
The system includes braking and steering support for collision avoidance, a Driver Understanding system, as well as next-generation Pilot Assist and Park Pilot Assist.
Scandinavian Design Meets Outdoor Functionality
The EX30 Cross Country retains the minimalist Scandinavian design language of the standard EX30 while introducing additional rugged detailing.
Matt black and vapour grey accents are paired with low-gloss vapour grey skid plates, matte black lower bumpers and wheel arch extensions.
A Cross Country nameplate on the C-pillar, embossed CC logo at the rear and low-gloss rear shield design further distinguish the model.
Inside, the cabin draws inspiration from the deep blue and indigo tones of a starry night sky, alongside purple hues reminiscent of a sunset.

The interior features charcoal-coloured woven textile, Nordico upholstery, denim decor panels and blue air vent panels. A panoramic roof allows natural light into the cabin while providing occupants with a wider view of their surroundings.
Smart Technology and Flexible Storage
The EX30 Cross Country comes with built-in Google Services, including Google Assistant, Google Maps and access to apps through the Google Play Store via its 12.3-inch centre screen.
An advanced Harman Kardon Premium Sound system is paired with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
Practicality is also a key feature, with the model retaining the EX30’s smart storage solutions. Large door compartments replace conventional door-mounted speakers, which have been relocated to a dashboard soundbar.
A flexible central storage area between the driver and passenger can accommodate a handbag, while a removable rear box beneath the central armrest provides additional storage and doubles as a waste bin.
The rear luggage compartment provides 318 litres of space with all seats in place, increasing to 718 litres when the second-row split seats are fully folded.
A ‘Will it Fit’ graphic on the power tailgate provides examples of items that can be transported, while optional accessories include mud flaps, load carriers, bicycle racks and a roof basket.

Volvo Introduces Digital Service Booking
The launch of the EX30 Cross Country also marks the introduction of Digital Service Booking (DSB) by Volvo Car Malaysia.
The new platform allows customers to schedule aftersales service appointments through the Volvo Car Malaysia website or the Volvo Cars App, providing greater flexibility and convenience for vehicle servicing.
DSB is currently available through Volvo authorised retailers in the Klang Valley, with plans to expand the service to authorised retailers in other regions across Malaysia.
