UOB Malaysia Strengthens Support for SMEs
UOB Malaysia has expanded its financing support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through the Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) SME Stabilisation Relief Facility (SRF).
The initiative aims to help businesses manage cash flow challenges and maintain operations amid ongoing economic uncertainty. In particular, the facility targets SMEs affected by external pressures such as supply chain disruptions and the continuing West Asia conflict.
As global economic conditions remain volatile, many Malaysian businesses continue to face rising operating costs and financial strain. Therefore, the enhanced financing support is designed to provide faster and more accessible relief for companies in need.
Financing Support of Up to RM750,000
Under the BNM SME SRF, eligible businesses can access financing of up to RM750,000 at a rate of up to 3.75% per annum, inclusive of guarantee fees. In addition, the facility offers repayment tenures of up to five years.
The financing programme also includes guarantee coverage from Syarikat Jaminan Pembiayaan Perniagaan Berhad (SJPP) or Credit Guarantee Corporation Malaysia Berhad (CGC).
As a result, SMEs can gain better access to working capital support while reducing financial pressure during uncertain market conditions.
Helping Businesses Build Long-Term Resilience
According to Ng Wei Wei, Chief Executive Officer of UOB Malaysia, businesses require practical and timely support to remain resilient in today’s evolving economic environment.
“In today’s increasingly uncertain environment, we understand the very real challenges our customers are facing,” she said. “Through facilities like the Bank Negara Malaysia SME Stabilisation Relief Facility, we are working to channel timely, practical support to help businesses manage cash flow pressures, sustain operations and build resilience for the future.”
Furthermore, UOB Malaysia stated that the facility complements its existing financial relief assistance programmes introduced to support customers during periods of economic instability.
Supporting Malaysia’s SME Ecosystem
SMEs remain a critical driver of Malaysia’s economy, contributing significantly to employment, entrepreneurship, and domestic economic growth. Consequently, access to financing has become increasingly important as businesses navigate changing global market conditions.
By expanding financing support through the BNM SRF, UOB Malaysia reinforces broader efforts to strengthen business continuity and improve financial resilience among local enterprises.
