YPU Plans To Set Up 100 T'shop Under 10MP
KUALA TERENGGANU, March 23 (Bernama) -- Yayasan Pembangunan Usahawan (YPU) Terengganu aims to set up 100 T'Shop nationwide under the 10th Malaysia Plan (10MP).
Its deputy general manager, A. Razak Sulaiman, said to date YPU has set up 18 shops in various states, including one at Universiti Utara Malaysia, which was set up in 2009.
"The 18 shops operate 24 hours, except in UUM, which operates for 12 hours.
"This year, we plan to set up 10 shops in Terengganu and outside the state," he told Bernama here Wednesday.
A. Razak said T'Shop aimed to help entrepreneurs get involved in the sundry shop business in a systematic way according to the existing model.
"An entrepreneur needs RM100,000 to equip the shop and YPU would give a loan of RM50,000," he said.
A. Razak said YPU had received enquiries from entrepreneurs in Terengganu and outside the state to set up T'Shop.
He said starting this year, T'Shop would operate 24 hours to compete with other 24-hour shops.
"This will include the sales of provisions, consumer products and output from small and medium industries," he said.
On other developments, A. Razak said YPU would continue with its palm juice project even though the output was not consistent due to the shortage of the supply.
"Currently, YPU only produces about 4,000 bottles of the palm juice a year and are not enough to meet demand," he said.
