Vistern Health Sparkles At Gulfood Awards In Dubai
DUBAI, March 2 (Bernama) -- A Malaysian company participating in the Gulfood 2011 exhibition here has done the country proud after clinching an award for its innovative honey-based beverage.
Kuala Lumpur-based Vistern Health Sdn Bhd's "Sparkling Euphoria" bagged the award in the "Best New Non-Alcoholic Beverage" category at the Gulfood Awards held in conjunction with Gulfood, billed as the world's largest food trade show.
It fended off competition from companies representing, among others, Germany, Australia, Canada, Taiwan, Thailand and the United States.
"We've received enquiries from potential distributors here," Vistern Health marketing manager, Annie Ng, told Bernama on the sidelines of the four-day food and beverage exhibition which ends Wednesday.
The manufacturing process of the ready-to-drink beverage involves keeping honey vinegar in oak drums for eight months to ensure that the mixture mature naturally.
"It took us one year to formulate the drink," Ng said of Sparkling Euphoria, adding that Gulfood 2011 was an opportunity for Vistern Health to introduce the product to the Middle East market.
She thanked the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) for its support and giving her company the opportunity to take part in the exhibition.
The Gulfood Awards were presented on Sunday at a special gala dinner to recognise the very best in the food, beverage and hospitality industry.
A total of 16 winners collected their awards for products, services and innovation that have contributed the most to the sector.
The categories ranged from "Best New Functional Food or Drink" to "Best Environmental Sustainability Initiative" and "Best Health Education Initiative".
