UiTM Comes Up With Food-ordering System From Home

MACHANG, Feb 10 (Bernama) -- The Machang campus of Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) has created a system called "Smart Order" to place orders for food from the home via the Internet and this is to help small and medium industries to market their products.

"Smart Order" development head, Mohd Idzwan Salleh, said using the system consumers can order food from home from their favourite restaurant and chart lower spending.

"They can choose from the menu and go through the prices of food," he told Bernama. He said restaurant operators will fill the order by delivering the food to the address listed in the Smart Order.

Mohd Idzwan said the system was designed in six months last year by four lecturers who were experts in the field of information and communication technology (ICT) to help entrepreneurs to expand their business network besides providing convenience to customers.

He said the system was developed with a cost of RM10,000 including purchase of equipment used for research, adding that the system was suitable for use in large cities like Kuala Lumpur, Johor Baharu and Ipoh. Mohd Idzwan said EDDLEE Fried Chicken in Kota Baharu was the first restaurant to use the system. -- BERNAMA
