Takaful Malaysia Targets RM10 Million In Premiums For New Product
KUALA LUMPUR, April 5 (Bernama) -- Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Bhd, expects a premium income of RM10 million over the next 12 monthsfrom its newly-launched Takaful mySME plan.
Group Managing Director Datuk Mohamed Hassan Kamil said the plan aimed to safeguard five small-and-medium enterprise (SME) sectors of light manufacturing, food and beverages, retail, offices and services.
"Despite the rapid growth amongst the SME fraternity, the insurance or risk management penetration rate remains typically low despite the vast selection of business protection solution within local borders.
"This was evident from the number of SMEs in Malaysia which were badly affected during the global financial crisis in 2008 and 2009 due to the direct impact of the demand slowdown," he told reporters after the launch of Takaful mySME plan by International Trade and Industry Deputy Minister Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir here Tuesday.
For a premium of RM550 a year, the Takaful mySME plan offers an additional 15 per cent for no claim rebate which is payable in the event no claims arise during the period of coverage.
Meanwhile, Takaful Malaysia also inked a Memorandum of Understanding with SME Corp Malaysia to jointly educate and create awareness among SME entrepreneurs on the importance of solid risk management processes.
Takaful Malaysia and SME Corp will organise six roadshows in Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Penang Kota Bharu and Johor Bharu which would highlight special dialogue sessions with many successful SME entrepreneurs.
"You will obtain "first hand" information and useful business experiences from our esteemed panel of speakers on why effective risk management should be put in motion in the organisation," Mohamed Hassan added.
