SME Solutions Expo To Generate RM95 Million Worth Of Business Deals

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 5  (Bernama) -- The SME Solutions Expo 2010 is expected to generate RM95 million worth of business deals compared with RM80 million concluded in the previous edition.

The organiser said that the expo would prepare local businessmen especially small-and-medium enterprise (SMEs) for the high income economy as envisioned in the New Economy Model.

"The three-day expo beginning today, will focus on three main challenges faced by SMEs - raising finance, attracting world-class human capital and acquiring technology to improve productivity.

"As a one-stop solution for SMEs, the expo hosts key vendors that could address these needs while the concurrent conferences narrow the knowledge gap of SMEs on these crucial choke points," said the organiser at the SME Solutions Expo 2010 which was officiated by Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism Datuk Rohani Abdul Karim.

Also present was CIMB Group Chief Executive Datuk Seri Nazir Razak.

Ng added that the expo attracted 20,000 business owners and entrepreneurs, including 80 delegates from India, led by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India.

"Equally important, the Expo allows visitors and participants alike to meet and network with other business owners, including players from Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and Brunei," he added.

Meanwhile, Nazir, in his speech, pointed out that businesses have to continuously transform not only to grow, but to survive as well in the context of a rapidly evolving competitive landscape.

"CIMB is a good example of how we reinvented ourselves from a predominantly Malaysian merchant bank to become a leading Southeast Asian universal banking franchise.

"Today, CIMB is present in eight out of ten Asean countries and we invite SMEs and large corporations alike to leverage on our platform and our local knowledge of each individual market, to help you regionalise, diversify and grow your businesses," he added. — Bernama
