SME Bank To Focus On Quality Loan Portfolios This Year
KUALA LUMPUR, July 29 (Bernama) -- Quality loan portfolios is SME Bank's main focus this year, in ensuring profitability and sustainability, the bank says in its 2009 Annual Report.
"The profitability and sustainability of the bank depend much on the type of loans we bring in. By having quality loans, it will help maintain the two factors," SME Bank said.
During the financial year 2009, SME Bank had approved 1,095 loans amounting to RM2.04 billion, which was lower by 7.5 per cent compared to the 2008 approvals.
The bank's loan portfolio grew by 19.8 per cent to RM3.84 billion in 2009 compared to RM3.21 billion previously.
As part of efforts to strengthen the bank's operations, a new business model is expected to be fully implemented this year, SME Bank said.
This year, SME Bank also hopes to become the SME hub to deliver a one-stop experience, supported by value added staff who are knowledgeable of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) requirements. — Bernama
