Penang's Famous Jeruk Madu Pak Ali Enterprise To Expand Business To Sabah
NIBONG TEBAL, March 8 (Bernama) -- Jeruk Madu Pak Ali Enterprise, the company famous for its pickled fruits in Penang, will expand its business to Sabah in the near future.
This is being made possible through the cooperationwith a company in the state.
Its proprietor, Alias Ali said the cooperation with Sabtradf Enterprise will beformalised with the signing of an agreement in May.
"We are currently in discussions on this matter. The cooperation is in theform of a transfer of technology, with Sabtradf Enterprise establishing afactory to process the pickles, and we will provide the expertise," hetold Bernama here.
He said Sabtradf Enterprise is keen on venturing into the business to add valueto its downstream products in the state.
"The company is keen to develop its downstream products while at the sametime generate income for the locals," he added.
Alias, the son of Pak Ali, the creator of the "Jeruk Madu PakAli",said at present, the honey pickle is being marketed throughout thepeninsula by another subsidiary, Kunci Kreatif Enterprise.
In the case of Sarawak, he said there is no plan to produce the pickle in thestate, but another ready, processed product will be sent from Penang to bemarketed there.
Jeruk Madu Pak Ali Enterprise has at present a factory to process the picklesat Tasek, in Seberang Perai South.
According to Alias, there have been expressions of interest from overseas toventure into the field.
"We had company representatives from Madinah coming to taste the pickledolives and were impressed that our product was not bitter, unlike that found inthe market at present.
"They were also keen on opening a factory in their country to produce thepickles, he said.
He also said that currently, the company produced 30 tonnes of various types ofpickled fruits for the market in the peninsula.
The honey pickles or Jeruk Madu Pak Ali is sold at between RM8 and RM15 perkilo.
The company also produces other products such as juices, ointment, soap, andnutmeg-based face creams.
