Mydin Hypermarket to operate at National Food Terminal
IPOH, Sept 13 (Bernama) -- The National Food Terminal (Teman) will get a new lease of life when Mydin Mohamed Holdings Bhd (MMHB) open its hypermarket next year.
Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) chairman Datuk Badruddin Amiruldin said the hypermarket is expected to be operational in January.
Mydin will be the anchor tenant at Teman located in Simpang Pulai hopelly will attract people to Teman.
"In addition to the hypermarket, Mydin will also be a one-stop centre buying local agricultural produce to be marketed at 90 Mydin shops and hypermarkets nationwide.
"Farmers within 100km should use this opportunity to market their agricultural produce," he told reporters while visiting Teman accompanied by Perak Malay Chamber of Commerce (DPMM) president Datuk Mohammed Mahiyuddin Abdullah and Fama deputy director-general (development) Rohaizad Ridzwan.
He said with Mydin's participation, the problem of poor public respond to Teman could be resolved and the whole complex would be fully operational.
Perak DPMM also agreed to cultivate vegetables and fruits on its 60 hectares site to supply to Teman.
Teman was built at a cost of RM124 million on a 20 hectares site. It began operation in August 2009 but only 120 of 394 lots were active.
