Musa praises KK Chinese Chamber of Commerce and encourages them

KOTA KINABALU, Jan 30 (Bernama) -- Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman encouraged the Chinese Chamber of Commerce to learn about the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) and other government initiatives that contribute significantly towards the economic growth of the nation.

Speaking during the Kota Kinabalu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KKCCCI) Chinese New Year banquet here last night, Musa said the community should take the opportunity to do so, as Sabah's economic growth is partly dependent on small and medium enterprises run by members of various chambers of commerce including the KKCCCI.

"Through various types of professional ventures and businesses, you create jobs which provide a consistent income. You also diligently pay taxes, which then become revenue for the government to carry out numerous development projects.

Work ethics and dedication among the Chinese business community continues to drive the economic growth of our nation," he said in a speech at the function.

"I was informed that a recent trade visit to Guangzhou, China was one of the many activities you've undertaken to enhance trade relationship between Malaysia and other countries," said Musa.

"By fostering partnerships in other countries, including China which is an economic power house, we can strive towards building more businesses and strengthen our economy in the process," he added.

In view of that, he expressed hope that the Chamber and other business and trade groups would continue placing their confidence in Barisan Nasional's (BN) proven track record.

He cited the 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M) as an instance of the many programmes and policies BN has implemented to help the lower income groups.

Musa then went to make an assurance that the State BN government would continue to support the needs of independent Chinese and mission schools and non-Muslim religious organisations.

Meanwhile, the KKCCCI president Datuk Seri Sari Nuar also urged the Chinese community to treasure their stability and prosperity, and to support the state government under the leadership of Musa, for the overall well being of Sabah.
