Marang PPK to enjoy first harvest of oil palm fruits middle of the year
KUALA TERENGGANU, Feb 1 (Bernama) -- Marang Area Farmers Organisation (PPK) will enjoy the first yield from its oil palm plantation project in Bukit Tebuang, Kampung Jenang Marang by middle of this year.
Its general manager, Ahmad Anuar Abdullah, said the project, which was implemented on a 7.5-hectare site, involved 40 farmers from Kampung Barat, Kampung Tok Fakir, Kampung Jenang, Kampung Pengkalan Berangan and Kampung Bukit Baru.
"We expect to enjoy our first harvest of oil palm fruits by middle of this year and the yield is likely to be over 50 tonnes and worth more than RM30,000," he told Bernama here Wednesday.
He said since the oil palm cultivation had a good potential for growth, Marang PPK had also made an application to expand its project to a 17-hectare idle land owned by the state government, near the existing plantation.
Ahmad Anuar said the Marang PPK had no problem in terms of marketing as the fruits could be marketed through the State Farmers Organisation as the governing body for PPK.
