Mara Allocates RM44 Million Loans To Sabah Bumi Entrepreneurs
TAWAU, Feb 16 (Bernama) -- Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) has allocated RM44mil in loans to help bumiputera entrepreneurs in Sabah this year.
Sabah Mara director Kamaruzdzaman Md Ali said of the amount, RM26mil was set aside for loans to bumiputera contractors.
"Sabah receives the highest allocation nationwide and will witness the implementation of many projects," he said after opening the general meeting of Kelab Usahawan Kompleks (Mara) Tawau here Wednesday.
The loans would be given to those renting Mara premises, who had undergone training with Mara or graduates of training institutes like GiatMara.
Kamaruzdzaman said Mara's focus was to encourage Malays and bumiputeras to venture into business and not be dependent of salaried jobs.
On repayment of loans, he said of RM62mil loans disbursed last year, RM44mil was collected in Sabah, the highest among all the states.
