Malaysia achieves encouraging growth in immediate sales at Caexpo 2011

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 9 (Bernama) -- Malaysian exporters who participated under the recent Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) organised Malaysia Pavilion at the China-Asean Expo (Caexpo 2011), recorded encouraging growth in immediate sales compared to last year.

In a statement here Wednesday, it said the five-day expo held in Nanning, saw participating companies secure actual sales of RM86.53 million, with an additional RM115.36 million in potential sales under negotiation.

"Malaysian exhibitors achieved total sales of RM201.9 million," Matrade said.

It said the environmental services sector achieved the highest sales of RM116.1 million followed by health and wellness with total sales of RM30.2 million and RM16.6 million sales from the food and beverage (F&B) sector.

"Caexpo was instrumental in enhancing trade cooperation between Malaysia and China to a much higher level.

"The growing trade in professional services and green products at Caexpo 2011, reflected profound changes and potential in bilateral trade between China and Malaysia," said the chief executive officer of Matrade, Dr. Wong Lai Sum.
