NEW DELHI, March 8 (Bernama) -- The Malaysia India Chamber of Commerce (Maicom) has linked up with the Federation of India ExportOrganisation (FIEO) to get more Indian traders to participate in its annual Global Indian Festival in Kuala Lumpur from June 8 to 12.
Maicom has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU)
with the FIEO to woo more India-based traders to promote products ranging from
garments to food at the event.
The Global Indian Festival attracted about half a million visitors in 2010.
"This is a step forward for Micom and FIEO to strengthen relations. This
private partnership will help Malaysian and Indian businessmen to explore each others
market," said Senator A. Kohilan Pillay, the deputy foreign minister who
witnessed the signing.
Micom president Datuk Kanagarajan Raman described the partnership as a
"bridge to the Malaysia-India relationship" and a deal that could
serve as a catalyst to spur trade.
He said about 120 Indian businessmen would participate in this year's Global
Indian Festival.
The signing ceremony took place last Sunday in Delhi during the India-Asean
Business Fair.
