MIRC Incubator to shut down by CNY - by Karin Chang

MCA ICT Resource Centre (MIRC) Incubator Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Andrew Wong confirmed that MIRC Incubator will cease operations by Chinese New Year.

“Yes, the MIRC Incubator is in the process of winding down and is now paying off its creditors. We are targeting by this Chinese New Year to firm up everything,” he confirmed, citing legacy issues as the driving force behind the closure.

MIRC has a four-year SME development plan (2008 - 2012) to spearhead the country’s SME sector’s development and to encourage more SMEs to embrace innovation and position themselves in the global market.

Meanwhile, Platinum SMS, an SMS service provider where MIRC Incubator had a 75 per cent stake, had ceased operations earlier. The other entities which included venture capital and fund management company, MIRC Ingenious Capital Partners, is likely to follow suit.

Following the development, Wong along with two former MIRC staffs founded a new incubator company MAD Incubator Sdn Bhd to assist startups and entrepreneurs in November last year. - MSME
