Local Entrepreneurs Urged To Link Up With International Companies
PETALING JAYA, Jan 19 (Bernama) -- Local entrepreneurs have been urged to collaborate as well as seek opportunities and invest with international companies to raise the country's trade level.
Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Datuk S.K Devamany said one way to boost the country's economy would be to push up foreign investments.
"This is part of the agenda that has been set to bring Malaysia to a high-income nation status based on industries with high level of innovation and creativity," he told Bernama after opening the 33rd International Seminar on Industrial Gases here Wednesday.
He also expressed hope that this would also make Malaysia as a country to boost the Asean economy in the future.
Devamany said one country that has become a focus in the move to achieve this objective was India with which Malaysia enjoyed strong bilateral relations.
He also said that in the next few months, the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA) between the two countries is also expected to be signed.
The two-day seminar today was organised by the All India Industrial Gases Manufacturers Association (AIIGM).
It was attended by 250 companies from India that are members of the AIIGM as well as several partner companies from China, Malaysia and European countries such as Italy and Germany.
Devamany also called on local players in the gas industry to take the opportunity during the seminar to meet up with international players for synergy.
