KUALA LUMPUR, April 2 (Bernama) -- The Kuala Lumpur  Malay Chamber of Commerce (KLMCC) onFriday expressed its support for the New Economic Model (NEM) announced byDatuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

KLMCC President Datuk Syed Amin Aljeffri said KLMCC waswaiting for the implementation details and will study it.

"We will support mechanisms that are feasible andapplicable, especially the privatisation of government-linked companies(GLCS)," he said.

The NEM, aimed at transforming the country into ahigh-income nation that is sustainable and inclusive with all Malaysianscontributing and benefiting from the economic growth, was unveiled by Najib onTuesday.

The corporatisation and renaming of Malaysian IndustrialDevelopment Authority to Malaysia Investment Development Authority (MIDA) willhelp to boost the economy by attracting more foreign investments into thecountry, Syed Amin said.
