Fama targeting sales of RMN1.5b for agro products this year

PORT DICKSON, Jan 30 (Bernama) -- The Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama) is setting a sales target of RM1.5 billion of agricultural products by agro entrepreneurs this year.

Its chairman, Datuk Badruddin Amiruldin said the target could be achieved after the authority recorded sales of about RM1 billion last year through various marketing approaches.

"Last year, our farmers' market contributed RM631 million, our 'Agrobazaar Kedai Rakyat yielded RM87 million, Fresh Fruit Stall programme RM223 million, besides the sales from our K-Shoppe chain throughout the country.

"Our overall target of RM1 billion last year was achieved, and this year we can raise the target further to RM1.5 billion," he told reporters before launching the Retailing Entrepreneurship Excellence Course at the Fama Training Institute, here today.

In order to achieve the target, he said Fama planned to train more agro entrepreneurs besides providing courses that could enhance the entrepreneurs' sales.
