Fama plans to create more Agrobazaar Kedai Rakyat shops in Tawau
TAWAU, Jan 31 (Bernama) - The Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama) plans to create one AgroBazaar Kedai Rakyat shops in every state constituency under Tawau.
Tawau Fama officer Ambo Sadia said the AgroBazaar in Balung is already operating, one has been approved for Merotai and two others including Sebatik are under consideration.
"AgroBazaar are created from shops that are already operating. Fama just help operators to provide added value to achieve the status of AgroBazaar."
Ambo said AgroBazaar shops not only help increase the income of operators but also provide farmers with outlets to market their agriculture products.
"Fama will continue to monitor the premises to check on sales figures and ensure that the shops meet their functions and original goal."
On the Gerai Buah-Buahan Segar (GBBS) programme, he said the fruit stalls at Sabindo, Taman Muhibbah and Ranggu made sales of RM3.2 million last year.
