Fama To Develop 13 New Agrobazaar K-Shoppe Outlets This Year

PORT DICKSON, April 21 (Bernama) -- The Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) has targeted for 13 new Agrobazaar K-Shoppe outlets to be developed this year.

FAMA senior director for agro-based industries, Sharifah Hashim said to date, 103 Agrobazaar K-Shoppe outlets have been developed throughout the country with the annual sales value in 2010 reaching up to RM28 million.

"There are 1,575 entrepreneurs under the Agrobazaar K-Shoppe with sales having increased by 20 per cent compared to before their participation in it," she added.

Sharifah was speaking while officiating a course on operating the Agrobazaar K-Shoppe at the FAMA Training Institute here last night.

She said it was FAMA's hope that operators of the Agrobazaar K-Shoppe can become a one-stop centre for the marketing of products from small medium enterprises (SMEs) alongside their own.

The Agrobazaar K-Shoppe programme represents a marketing network which serves as the collection centre for agro-based industry products from entrepreneurs who act as either retailers or wholesalers.

The Agrobazaar K-Shoppe programme, started in 2006, is also a new approach to developing marketing entrepreneurs for SME products throughout the country.
