FMM Eyes 1,300 Participants For 6th WCC

KUALA LUMPUR, April 23 (Bernama) -- The Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM), which is hosting the sixth World Chambers Congress (WCC), from June 3-5 here, expects 1,300 participants from over 100 countries to attend the event.

In a statement, the FMM said the WCC would ensure worldwide exposure for the companies to a wide range of professionals from the various chambers of commerce.

Its president, Datuk Mustafa Mansur, said the contress, themed "Leading Sustainable Growth and Change", would address the key challenges faced by businesses, from the economic impact of climate change to the effects of globalisation on numerous enterprises. "The event will delve into major issues such as corporate governance, counterfeiting, entrepreneurship and empowering women in business," he said.

Mustafa said Malaysia would be the first country in South-East Asia to host the WCC, which was organised by ICC World Chambers Federation. It will be held every two years in a different region of the world, he said.

Meanwhile, chairman of WCC sub-committee on exhibition, Michael Chai, said up to 30 organisations had booked the space to showcase their products and services to decision-makers from the corporate, public and private sectors. "Among the confirmed participants are from US, Australia, United Arab Emirates, Mexico, Hong Kong, Luxembourg and Malaysia," he said.

Chai said to encourage the participation of Malaysian companies, FMM would offer a promotional rate of RM6,560 per standard booth, or RM656 per sq metre, for empty space. -- BERNAMA
