CYBERJAYA SMEs SPEARHEAD INNOVATION AT SESTECH 2010

KUALA LUMPUR, 6MAY 2010 – Cyberjaya spearheadedthe innovation scene at the inaugural SME Enterprise Software Technology andBusiness Solutions (SESTECH) conference and exhibition recently with new productlaunches from three of its small/medium enterprise (SME) tenants.

The three SMEs are Cruise GPS Systems Sdn Bhd – a provider of Global PositioningSystem (GPS) solutions which launched its Cruise 1Malaysia GPS navigation device;Webonline Dot Com Sdn Bhd – a prepaid e-money service provider whichlaunched its WebCash Shared Account e-money service; and StarFusion Sdn Bhdaprovider of ICT managed shared services which launched StarFusionMAIL, ane-mail messaging and collaboration hosting service based on Microsoft ExchangeServer Technology which is the first approved by Microsoft to offer suchservices in the Asia region.

The three SMEs were part of a delegation of 18 SMEsunder Cyberview Sdn Bhd, the landownerand entity mandated to spearhead Cyberjaya’s development as MSC Malaysia’sinternational hub and preferred location for ICT, Multimedia and Services forthe innovation economy.

Yang BerhormatDato’ Mukhriz Tun Mahathir, Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry officiated thelaunches at the Cyberjaya Pavilion, which was witnessed by En Ir Hafidz Hashim,Managing Director of Cyberview Sdn Bhd, Dato’ Daud Daros, Vice President of theKuala Lumpur Malay Chamber of Commerce, and Niran Noor, Vice President ofMarketing & Branding of the Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC).

“The SMEs within our delegation are an excellentexample of the innovation and knowledge-based companies currently flourishingwithin the Cyberjaya ecosystem; which Cyberview has masterminded to includestate-of-the-art commercial, residential, business and institutional developmentsbuilt on a sound technological, logistical and business support infrastructure– perfect for investors and potential tenants alike,” said En Ir Hafidz Hashim,Managing Director of Cyberview Sdn Bhd.

SESTECH 2010 is the inaugural enterprise softwareconference and exhibition in the ASEAN region for SME enterprise softwaretechnology and IT solutions which brought together senior level executives fromacross a broad range of industry sectors to learn about the benefits ofenterprise management software technologies, source for solutions and formpartnerships with local IT vendors.

The three-day event at the KL Convention Centre presenteda wide array of programs and activities including an exhibition, conference,business matching facilities and networking cocktails to educate SMEs with theobjectives of providing SMEs with a valuable insight into the latest ITproducts and solutions. Over 500 conference delegates graced the event throughoutits entirety.

“SESTECH brings in visitors who have specificintent at learning how information and communications technology (ICT) can helptheir business operations, hence providing a focused platform for the innovativetalent produced by Cyberview’s home-grown SMEs.

“Apart from the SMEs showcased at SESTECH, over 500companies have chosen Cyberjaya as their preferred business, outsourcingservice and solutions development location including globally-recognised nameslike DHL, Fujitsu, KPMG, Motorola, HSBC, Nokia, DELL, Shell, BMW, AMD andEricsson – a testament to Cyberview’s commitment to creating a conduciveenvironment in Cyberjaya for Malaysian SMEs and inbound investors alike to growand succeed,” shared En. Ir. Hafidz at the launch.

Cyberjaya is Malaysia’s first and foremostcybercity and MSC Malaysia’s international hub. Cyberview is mandated to spearhead development,provide conducive and business-friendly end-to-end ecosystems for businesses,and to facilitate the growth of both local and international investments of thepremier cybercity.

Since 2005, Cyberview has dedicated in excess of RM80milliontoward the physical infrastructure and sustained maintenance of Cyberjaya. As aresult of this, Cyberjaya has experienced an exponential growth of 70 per centin the number of companies since 2006 and this figure continues to increaseprogressively.

“TheGovernment, in response to our national vision and calls from the industry, hasbeen putting increasing emphasis on the innovation economy with a focus on ICTdevelopment and penetration and its importance as a driver for the economy whenfully utilised by SMEs, which make up 99% of business establishments inMalaysia.

“Coupledwith favourable directives highlighted in Budget 2010 and the New EconomicModel, Cyberview is proud to say that we are riding the crest of an SME-driven,content-based technological wave that can truly give Malaysia an opportunity tostand at par internationally. The exposure and successes that Cyberview hasgiven its SMEs via international exhibitions such as CeBIT 2010 and the participationin the upcoming CommunicAsia 2010 in Singapore are proof-points of this,” En Ir.Hafidz said.
