Bank Rakyat intends to open Ar-Rahnu Xchanges at all 124 branches
KOTA BAHARU, Sept 6 (Bernama) -- Bank Rakyat is expanding the Ar-Rahnu Islamic pawnbroking by setting up Ar-Rahnu Xchanges at all 124 branches nationwide, says Managing Director Datuk Kamaruzaman Che Mat.
So far, 20 Ar-Rahnu Xchanges are in operations, including 17 operated by the bank itself and three under franchise, he said.
Three more Ar-Rahnu Xchanges under franchise will be run by the Wawasan Co-operative in Bandar Sunway, Kota Baharu and Johor, he told BERNAMA.
Kamaruzaman also said the 125th Bank Rakyat branch will be opened in Kuala Nerang, Kedah.
He said Bank Rakyat has opened two branches in Bentong and Bera in the east coast.
He said bank Rakyat has been doing good business with the support of local residents who have become account holders and were confident of the bank's quality services.
Asked on plans to open new branches in Kelantan, Kamaruzaman said there were no plans as yet after opening a branch in Wakaf Che Yeh two months ago.
