Albakri Alias Excellent Worker For 2010
KUALA LUMPUR, May 8 (Bernama) -- The deputy officer for Vocational Training of the Lumut Mara Vocational Skills Institute, Albakri Alias, was today picked as the 2010 excellent worker in conjunction with the 2010 Labour Day.
The award is among nine categories presented by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak before 8,000 civil servants to recognise their services.
Albakri, who was educated in Britain, is an expert in building development and active in associations.
A computer teacher in the Spastics Association of Penang, Teh Kar Wei was awarded the Disabled Persons Award (Highest LeveL); while the receiver for worker award for disabled persons (excellence level) was presented to Bank Rakyat executive Norlita Hanim Md Taha while the enforcement assistant in the Johor Baharu City Council, Subhi Saad, is the third recipient of the excellence disabled persons award.
The caring company award was awarded to Telekom Malaysia Berhad and the Caring Company (Small and Medium Industries ) award to MM Vitaoils Sdn Bhd operating out of Shah Alam.
Besides that the Competitive Employer Award (Big Corporations) was awarded to Proton Holdings Bhd,and a Competitive Employer Award (Small and Medium Industries) to Polydamic Holdings Sdn Bhd of Ipoh.
The "Ladang Bahagia" status was first worn by Ladang Tanah Merah, Port Dickson, and the Public Sector Association Workers.
Awards were also awarded to the Public Union (Public Sector) of the Education Ministry's Laboratory Staff of Peninsular Malaysia and to support staff of Penang Port Sdn Bhd staff.
The Workers' Day gathering themed "Pekerja Berinovasi Pemacu Transformasi" (Workers Innovators of Transformation) was with presentation by the Army's Cultural Body, the Human Resources choir and Workers Day pledge.
In his speech, Human Resources Minister, Datuk Dr S.Subramaniam, said the government was very concerned about low pay in many sectors and that there were between 30 and 40 percent workers who were in in the low income category.
